Houses vary from one part of the country to another. Most houses in England are made of stone or brick from the local area where the houses are built. There are four basic types of housing in the UK:
• a detached house (a house not joined to another house);
• a semi-detached house (two houses joined together);
• a terraced house (one of several houses joined together);
• a flat (apartment).
A detached house is a house which is not joined to another house. A detached house can take on any form or style (it could be a bungalow or a cottage or a mansion). A bungalow is a house that is all on ground level. A cottage is a small house in the country. A mansion is a very large house. The free space surrounding the building is private to the owner and his family. This is the most expensive type of house.
A semi-detached house is a house which is joined to another house on one side.

I think summer is the best season of all because it is warm, the nature is beautiful and we have great opportunities for rest. Summer is a time of holidays. We can go anywhere, spend our time near a river or a lake on fresh, green grass, swim in warm water, or climb mountains, play different games, ride a bicycle and so on.

I spend my summer holidays at my granny’s. There are many things there to do. What I did most of the time - I swam in the sea and sunbathed. Sometimes I made a fire with my friends at the seaside and cooked potatoes there. It was wonderful. We told anecdotes to each other, and did everything we wanted. I also got used to walk alone in the forest.

1. What do you like doing in your summer holidays?

I like doing a lot of different activities in my summer holidays. I love watching wonderful films with a good special effects and talanted actors. Also I like spend my time with my friends. Usually we have picnics in the park and talk about future.

2. What do you like doing in your winter holidays?

In my opinion, winter holidays is the best season. I love

staying at home, when it is very cold outside. At home I like play computer games with my pen friend and drink hot chocolate.

3. What did you do last night?

Yesterday i had s school and my teachers gave me a lot of homework to do, so almost all the night i was doing my homework. After this, I chatted with my friends about tomorrow and I went to sleep at 3 a.m.

4. Did you have a good weekend? Why/why not?

To be honest, I didn't have a good weekend. I wanted to go to the beach with my friends on this weekend, but all my plans were ruined by heavy thunderstorm. I spent all my weekend at home.
