Ferghana is one of the most beautiful cities in Uzbekistan, and the largest in the valley with the same name. It is located in the southeast, about 420 km. from the capital - the city of Tashkent in the east, and 70 km from the city of Andijan in the south-west. The population is about 350,000 people. Ferghana’s area is 95.6 km². The city rises above sea level by about 600 meters. The history of the city is traditionally divided into three major stages: the time of the reign of the king, the times of Soviet rule, and the period after the end of the power of the Soviets. All these stages were reflected in the external appearance of the city’s architecture. Ferghana was quite far from the railway junction, so its development was somewhat difficult and slowed down. When the Great Patriotic War ended, an industrial leap occurred in the city, and some factories were built.
