Some of the state universities are general universities which provide all faculties and all types of instruction3, but there are also some state colleges for special subjects, such as agriculture. 4.Recently some of these special colleges were converted into general universities. 5. Such universities provide education residents4 of the state either free of charge5 or at a fee, though students pay for the cost of living while they study. 6. The great private universities have many advantages-age, tradition, long-established reputation. 7. They often appeal for funds from former students and often get great sums. 8.Private universities have between 500 and 30.000 students and some increased quickly in the past few years. 9. The fees are from $ 2.000 to over $ 4.000 a year. 10. Private colleges differ very much from the world-famous colle¬ges in standards and reputation. 11.
