Khreshchatyk
The main street of Kyiv is Khreshchatyk. The street is not very long but very impressive. Khreshchatyk looks especially beautiful in spring when chestnut trees are in blossom.
The building of this street began at the end of the 18th century. The first houses were wooden. The forming of Khreshchatyk as a street began in the 1830s-40s. Three-storied buildings with shops, offices and banks were built at this time. In 1892 the first electric tram in the country connected Khreshchatyk with Podil. At the beginning of the 20th century Khreshchatyk became the shopping centre of the city. During the Second World War Khreshchatyk was destroyed. While being reconstructed the street was twice widened and many new multistoried buildings appeared. Beside government offices and administrative buildings, you can see cinemas, restaurants and cafes in this street. Independent Square is the main square of Kyiv. It is located in Khreshchatyk Street. Many people go to Khreshchatyk every day. Some of them go shopping because there are many good shops and big markets there. Other people go to the cinema, look at the fountains or sit on the benches. People like the main street of Kyiv very much.

1 When I'm bored I sometimes go to the kitchen to eat something, well, it's only sometimes.

2 Most often I go to watch TV or to play computer games.  

3 Sometimes I go for a walk near the house, and if I meet any of my friends, I'll go for a walk with them.

4 Sometimes I ring some of my friends up and we go to a cafe to eat some ice cream or pizza.

5 Or we can also ride a bike, or go to the cinema.

6 If we feel bored during our walk - then I start a conversation on any funny topic!

7 When the weather is bad I can stay home to read a book or chat with my friends online.

8 If my Dad is at home we play chess with him.

9 Usually, my elder brother walks the dog but when I'm bored I can walk the dog for a change too.
