All the benefits of civilization, the most diverse entertainment of a large modern city - and at the same time a clean, carefully protected nature. Where can you see this? Of course, in Oakland! This largest city of the country was once its capital. In 1865, the New Zealand government moved amicably to Wellington, but it was Oakland that remained the most respectable metropolis in the Land of Long White Clouds. Hauraki Bay, on the shores of which is Oakland, in 2000 was declared a marine reserve. Around the city there are 53 volcanic hills; all of them are the results of explosions of molten magma, which happened here a long time ago. On the hills there are walkways and convenient picnic sites; and the locals and tourists with pleasure climb to the top to admire the opening views.

It is not easy to decide what profession to choose. Usual­ly, pupils’ plans for the future change many times during the school years. There are so many people who influence you in choosing your occupation. Parents and friends play a very important role in your choice. Teachers’ influence on pupils’ minds is also great.

My favourite subject is English. And I think this is my teacher who made it so. I understand the importance of knowledge of a foreign language. It enables people from different countries to communicate with each other, to read foreign literature in the original, to broaden their outlooks.

So I decided for myself to become a teacher of English. Of course, I know that it is not easy and takes much patience and effort. A teacher has to know how to teach, how to make difficult things understandable, how to get students interested in the subject. And of course a teacher ought to have perfect knowledge of his subject. I think the ideal teacher is the one who can combine all these. My present teacher is just like this. She is a great specialist and also a nice personality. I hope in future I can become as good teacher as she is.

Выбрать профессию нелегко. Обычно планы учеников на будущее меняются много раз в период обучения. На выбор профессии влияют многие люди. Родители и друзья играют очень важную роль в выборе. Также велико влия­ние учителей на решение учеников.

Мой любимый предмет — английский. И я думаю, это моя учительница сделала его таким. Я осознаю важность знания иностранного языка. Оно позволяет людям из раз­ных стран общаться, читать иностранную литературу в оригинале, расширять кругозор.

Итак, я решила стать учителем английского языка. Конечно, я понимаю, что это нелегко и требует огромного терпения и старания. Учитель должен знать, как учить, как сделать трудные вещи понятными, как заинтересо­вать учеников предметом. И, конечно же, учитель должен знать свой предмет в совершенстве. Я думаю, идеальный учитель — тот, кто может объединить в себе все это. Моя учительница как раз такая. Она отличный специалист и прекрасный человек. Я, надеюсь, в будущем смогу стать такой же, как она.
