Christmas is a home and family celebration in Britain. Those who live away try to get back home. Christmas is the biggest holiday of the year. As Christmas nears, everyone buys Christmas presents for friends and relatives. Christmas people try to give chil¬dren everything they want. Children count the weeks, then the days to Christmas. On Christmas Eve, families and friends gather for the festivities. Housewives are busy preparing food, and chil¬dren are sent to bed. They are told that if they don't go to sleep, Father Christmas will not bring them any presents. Then, when they are asleep, the parents come into their bedrooms and leave the presents near their beds, or under the Christmas tree, or in a stocking hanging up somewhere in the room.

I hope you are doing fine. I was glad to get your letter. That is too bad that you have so many problems at the moment. You write that your brother is a teenager and he does not want to go to school and to learn well. It is almost natural. You must probably be more patient with him. Good relations are important at this time so try not to be enemies with him. If he has problems at school you might help him with his homework. I think it would be a good idea to see some films about similar problems together. Sometimes seeing your life and the same problems with other people's eyes may improve the situation. So you brother may change his attitude to his studies and may become more serious and hard-working. And of course he will need more will-power to succeed.

I am also very sorry that your grandmother is very ill. Old people usually have problems with health. I think you should ask other relatives to help you in this case. Last summer I was in London.First of all,I was struck by its beauty.Numerous number of parks,sights,restaurants,shops.London is so divers.There is a mix of European,Chinese and American in one city.The practice of English is easier,because you can talk in it even in shops,cafés,cinemas,museums.Also most of museums are free.The best time for visiting London is definitely summer.The weather is good and you can spend all day just walking.Most of people are very kind and friendly.You can meet people all over the world and make friends.Currency of England is sterling,so some products and things may be quite expensive.But I recommend to buy only things that will remind you about London.Also,you can travel in London by bicycle.It is cheap enough and you can observe whole city.Hope you will like London
