To be good and true friends is not easy.  True friendship means that you are supposed to help your friends round-the-clock.   There are no days-off for friends and their problems.  Yet some people believe that their friends owe them more than they.  They expect attention and help but are not ready to give the same.  Selfishness is out of the question when we talk about friendship. 
Friendship can't stand always on one side.  Friends on both sides want true understanding and sincere feelings.  If so, both sides should try to treat each other in an equally honest way.
