Icould tell by (a/the/-) town hall clock that i was late, so i decided to catch (a/-) bus. it was (a/the/-) beautiful day; (a/the/-) sun was shining and there was (the/-) very little wind. i turned (the/-) corner, and walked down (a/the/-) main street.(a/the/-) couple of minutes later, i heard (a/the/-) noise, and (a/the/-) man wearing (a/the/-) grey leather jacket ran past me. at first, i thought he was trying to catch (a/the/-) bus which was waiting at (a/the/-) bus stop, but then (a/the/-) policeman appeared, running at (a/the/-) some speed. he was obviously chasing (a/the/-) man in (a/the/-) leather jacket, and he was joined by another policeman, who was talking rapidly into (a/the/-) hand-held radio.all three disappeared into (a/the/-) crowd of people, my bus arrived, and i got on. as (a/the/-) bus drove down (a/the/-) road, i saw (a/the/-) man again, walking casually through (a/the/-) crowd with his (a/the/-) coat over is shoulder. i could also see (a/the/-) second policeman, still talking into his radio. he was describing (a/the/-) man who no longer existed, (a/the/-) man wearing a jacket and running furiously: while (a/the/-) real criminal (if he was (a/the/-) criminal) walked slowly and casually into the station.​

Да еще такого корабля, как «Виктория»!.. «Виктория», краса звездного флота, фантастическая птица с гордо вздернутым вперед клювом, совершала броски в Ближний, Дальний и Конечный космос. Ее серо-стальные бока и крылья отполировал ветер разноцветных звезд; ее острый шпиль пронзал пустоту с беззаботной легкостью иглы, скользящей сквозь кусок ткани. Двигатели точно выводят «Викторию» к самой отдаленной цели, и гигантский лайнер причаливает с осторожностью шлюпки в порту незнакомой планеты, возле космической станции или у порога одноместного корабля астронавта, затерянного среди звезд. Сотни историй в судовом журнале о ближних и дальних рейсах «Виктории». Но этот рассказ – о последнем путешествии, когда корабль, попав случайно в беду, оказался достойным своего знаменитого имени-девиза: «Победа!» В космосе все на виду, словно в аквариуме. Телескопы, станции, спутники, корабли изучили звездный мир до мельчайшего «винтика». И ни один мастер небесной механики не мог, разумеется, предсказать, что первоклассный пассажирский лайнер исчезнет однажды в бесконечности из-за тайного обитателя трюмов, точнее – из-за обыкновенного грызуна. Однако в этой истории немало странного. И что еще важно: «Виктория» уточнила движение Стрелы времени: люди острее почувствовали, куда нацелен наконечник этой Стрелы, увидели разницу между и будущим Земли.

Christmas is a joyful religious A holiday. For people all over the world, Christmas is a season of giving and receiving presents. In Scandinavian and other European countries, Santa Claus B visits houses in the night and leaves presents for children. Santa Claus is represented as a kindly man with a red coat and long white beard. He usually C brings people happiness in the coldest months of the year. Mary and Steve are twins. Every year they D expect Santa Claus and his gifts. Last year Santa E brought a beautiful doll for Mary and a soccer ball for Steve. The children F have already decorated the Christmas tree. Now Mary G is helping her mother in the kitchen, and Steve H is watching a football game on TV. He I loves  football very much. After supper the children will go to bed. Santa Claus usually J comes at night. Tomorrow Mary and Steve K will find presents in a Christmas stocking. What  will Santa give them?
