Most people have their free time everyday. Sometimes they are bored but other time they try to do something pleasant. They have different hobbies, which help them to overcome stress and forget about everyday work and problems. There are many kinds of activities which they like to do but all of them have their own favourite way of spending free time. Some people prefer cultural life-they attend exhibitions, theatres, cinemas. Some people choose nightlife as their lifestyle - they spend their weekends partying in clubs, dancing, having fun. Women also like to do shopping every weekend. We have some places where we can meet, for example few pizzerias, cafes or pubs, some sports facilities, the park in the centre of the town, where we may rest and breathe fresh air. Some people (like me) like using computer in their spare time. They have a great pleasure when they can play computer games or to know new computer programmes – this is the kind of a hobby. In my opinion our happiness depends (to a high degree) on our ways of spending free time.
HI John, how are you there? I hope you are doing fine. You asked me in your letter to suggest you a good book to read. Well, there are so many good books. But I would like to suggest you a book written many years ago. It is "Professor Dowel's Head" by Alexander Belyayev. It is science fiction. But very many things that take place in it resemble our present life. The main character Professor Dowel was doing scientific research in the area of transplantation. He wanted to know if it was possible to keep alive a mind without a body. Finally his head was also used for such research. Many other characters appear in the book. Some of them are honest and relaible, some of them are greedy and selfish. Personal tragedies happen too. Somebody loses a lover. somebody loses a friend, and somebody loses his or her life. I always liked this book and read it many times. The book was written many decades before all these modern technological and scientific achievements in medicine. In my opinion the author predicted many of them. I hope you will like the book and we shall discuss it as soon as you read it. I hope you will be able to find it in English. Bye for now, Kolya.
