II. Read the text and translate (перевод текста)
In 1819 the Patton Colliery was altered into a locomotive railroad, and Mr. Stephenson appointed its chief engineer. He soon began his labors, and on the 18th of November, 1822, the road was opened for the first time for locomotives. Crowds came from all directions to witness the experiment. Five of Mr. Stephenson’s engines were upon the road that day, each engine drawing after it seventeen wagons loaded, averaging sixty – four tons, at the rate of four miles an hour.
Mr. Stephenson next became chief engineer of the Stockton and Burlington Railway, another coal-road about being constructed. The success of Mr. Stephenson’s locomotives had been tried and proved practical, although as yet not a saving in the expense of transportation. But Mr. Stephenson’s views prevailed, and when the road was finished, on the 27th of September, 1820,
he had three engines ready for its use. They were built at his works, the first ever established for locomotive manufacture. At the foot of this plane a locomotive, driven by Mr. Stephenson himself was attached to the train. It consisted of six wagons loaded with coal and flour, next a passenger-coach (the first ever run upon a railroad) filled with the directors and their friends, and then twenty оne wagons fitted up with temporary seats for passengers, and lastly came six wagons loaded with coal, making in all twenty-eight vehicles.

Boars live in a wide variety of conditions. In the taiga zone, in the forest belt, in the mountains in thickets and hazel. The body length is more than 1.5 m, the boar can weigh 250 kg and even (in the Far East) 300 kg. They have terrifying fangs, especially the lower ones. The fangs reach 24-25 cm in length and are bent in a semicircle. Boars can hear perfectly and have a fine sense of smell, but they see relatively poorly. In spring and summer, the daily course of wild boars does not exceed 5-6 km, in autumn it reaches 12 km, in winter, deep snow hinders long-distance hikes, and wild boars pass from several hundred meters to 3-4 km. In summer, boars come out to feed before sunset until dawn. Since autumn, they go to feed earlier-during the day, and in winter they spend the night in dens, the day-on feeding. In April, 4-6 piglets appear, sometimes even 10-12. They are in the den for a week, huddled close to each other. In the second week, the female begins to take the piglets for walks. In nature, boar lives 10-12 years, in captivity, they can live 20 years.
