Later years:1906- first woman professor at the Sorbonne, promote X-ray machines during First World War.
Where/ When died: Savoy, France, 4th July, 1934

В 1948 году благодаря изобретению транзисторов появилась возможность сменить ими вакуумные лампы. Транзистор имел большое значение для разработки компьютеров. Потенциальное преимущество транзисторов перед вакуумными лампами было почти таким же,как и у вакуумных ламп перед реле. Транзистор может переключать потоки энергии так же,как и вакуумные лампы,используемые в компьютере,но потребляет намного меньше энергии и значительно меньше по размеру. Транзисторы гораздо дешевле и более надёжны. Они более крепки механически,имеют почти неисчерпаемый срок действия и может выполнять некоторые действия качественнее,чем электронные лампы. Транзисторы изготавливались из цельного кристаллического материала -- полупроводника.
Вместе с транзисторами пришла и возможность конструирования более сложных и быстрых компьютеров. 

Nowadays, you can easily do the shopping without leaving your home. Many people believe that buying things on the Internet is more convenient than going to the mall , while others disagree with this point of view. As for me, I prefer online shopping to traditional shopping for a few reasons. Firstly, the Internet offers you a limitless choice of any goods, which you will never find in shops. Secondly, you can save your time and energy staying where you are. What is more, you avoid crowds of shoppers and annoying shop-assistants this way. However, there are people who support a different opinion. They claim that buying things online might be connected with some risks. For example, when you buy a piece of clothing without trying it on first, it might not fit you well or it might look different in real life.

Personally, I do not agree with my opponents’ opinion. Online sellers are quite familiar with these risks too, so they do many things to improve the service and support their customers. For instance, if you have bought something and it does not suit you, you can easily return it and get a refund.
