Winter holidays are shorter than summer ones. They begin at the end of December and last about two weeks. It is so nice to have a rest from school.During winter holidays we celebrate the New Year’s Eve and Christmas. There are New Year parties for children at schools and theatres. Cinemas show children films and cartoons. It is usually very cold in winter, but frost and snow can’t keep children indoors. It’s so great to go skiing down a hill. Boys like to play hockey on the ice. Many children go to the skating-rinks to skate. Small children play snowballs and make snowmen, or ride on the sledges happily.When the weather is bad, I stay at home and watch TV. There is always something interesting on during winter holidays. Sometimes my friends come to see me and we play computer games or listen to music. There is also more time for reading, drawing, making model planes and other hobbies.Holidays pass quickly and soon it’s time to go to school again.

Мир животных всегда имел и имеет очень важное значение для нас.. Наши отдаленные предки, жившие 100-150 тыс. лет назад, знали диких зверей, птиц, рыб и других животных. Это и понятно: ведь жизнь людей во многом зависела от охоты и рыболовства. Мясо добытых животных было одним из основных источников питания, из шкур убитых зверей изготовляли одежду, из костей - ножи, скребки, иглы, наконечники копий.С течением времени роль животных в жизни человека изменилась. Значение диких зверей в качестве источника пищи заметно снизилось, так как мясо, шерсть и молоко стали получать от домашних животных. Но у человека появились новые враги из мира животных - различные насекомые, вредившие культурным растениям. Известно, что животные играют очень важную роль в обеспечении населения Земли продуктами питания и сырьем для промышленности. Значительную долю продуктов питания, а также кожу, воск, шелк, шерсть и другое сырье человек получает от домашних животных. Рыболовство, особенно морское, промысел ракообразных и моллюсков также имеют важное значение для получения пищевых продуктов и витаминов. Природа в жизни человека играет как материальное, так и духовное значение. Материальное, так как собственно природа дает нам пищу, жилье, одежду. И, казалось бы, эта мысль очень проста, поэтому, придерживаясь этого взгляда, человек должен быть признателен природе. Если нет такого чувства, то, по крайней мере, нужно понимать простую вещь: не вспахивая, не удобряя поле, нечего надеяться, что в следующем году у тебя будет хлеб на столе. Духовное значение природы в жизни человека, начало теряться давно, когда человек стал больше уделять внимания себе, своему внутреннему миру, а не своим отношениям с внешним миром. Научное значение природы, то что она - источник всех знаний. Наблюдая и изучая природу, человек открывает объективные законы, руководствуясь которыми использует в собственных целях естественные силы и процессы.
