Приветствие

Оно одинаково у всех писем: нужно поздороваться либо с конкретным человеком, если вы знаете его имя (Hello Robert), либо ограничиться абстрактным "Hello", если вы не знаете, кому именно пишете.

Причина написания

Затем нужно дать понять, почему вы вообще присылали это письмо. Если вас об этом просили, и вы выполняете то можно использовать вот такую фразу:

I'm now sending you the files (my resume/samples of my work/the scanned documents/photos of our production) as you asked (as required/as we agreed before).

"Отправляю вам файлы (мое резюме/примеры своих работ/отсканированные документы/фото нашей продукции), как вы и просили (как и требовалось/как мы договаривались).

Please find a zip package containing the images attached to this email — "К этому письму приложен архив с изображениями".

Если же вас не просили ничего присылать, и вы пишете письмо по своей инициативе, то это тоже нужно кратко объяснить. Здесь подойдут вот такие фразы:

I saw your job posting at the ABC website — "Я увидел ваше объявление о работе на сайте ABC" (такую фразу неплохо бы подкрепить ссылкой на само объявление).

I was told that your company was looking for a freelance programmer (was dealing with buttons) — "Мне сказали, что ваша компания ищет внештатного программиста (занимается пуговицами)".

Alex Jones, a colleague of mine, said that... — "Мой коллега, Алекс Джонс, сказал, что..." (это если вы пишете по рекомендации знакомого).

And I thought I might be of help (I'd send something that might be of interest for you) — "И я подумал, что мог бы оказаться полезным (решил выслать вам кое-что, что может вас заинтересовать)".

Можно написать несколько слов о себе, например:

I'm a freelance programmer (photographer) working since 2000; and my main working languages (areas) are C++ and Perl (portraits and food photos) — "Я работаю внештатным программистом (фотографом) с 2000 года, и мои основные рабочие языки (области) — это С++ и Perl (портреты и фото еды)".

I'm a sales manager at one of the biggest buttons companies in Russia — "Я — менеджер по продажам в одной из крупнейших пуговичных компаний России".

Назначение вложения

Дальше нужно кратко описать, что именно приложено к письму (см. п. 2), и что адресат должен с этим делать.

Please, have a look at it (them) and let me know if there's anything to be changed, or I can provide you with any other information — " взгляните на него (них) и скажите, не нужно ли что-то изменить, и не требуется ли вам от меня какая-нибудь дополнительная информация".

I hope you'll find them decent enough — "Надеюсь, вы сочтете их достойными".

Hope it will help you to form an opinion about my skills (our merchandise) and make a decision about future possible collaboration — "Надеюсь, это вам составить мнение о моих умениях (нашей продукции) и принять решение насчет возможного сотрудничества в будущем".

Прощание

Окончания у таких писем тоже довольно стандартны:

Looking forward to hear from you (and thanks for your time).

"Буду ждать вашего ответа (и за уделенное время).
С наилучшими пожеланиями,
Андрей Соколов"

Фразой "Буду ждать ответа" в русском языке лучше не злоупотреблять, т.к. она немного давит. Но в английском языке она довольно нейтральна и не вызывает отторжения. С ее можно придать вашему письму веса, показать, что вы цените свое время, что писали это письмо не на авось, и рассчитываете на какой-то ответ.

Hello Amy,

I'd like to apply for the project as I believe I have all the necessary skills for this job.

I'm a freelance photographer, and my main specialties are portraits and animal photos. You can check my online portfolio with clients' feedback, or view my page at the photo stock — I hope it will help you to form a good opinion about my style.

My rate is $30 per photo; I can start working on your project on Thursday and deliver all the necessary images in required resolution on Thursday, March 4.

Please let me know if you're interested.
