Добившись политической независимости Казахстан стал демократической Республикой с президентской формой правления. Президент избирается. Власть в Республике состоит из двух ветвей - законодательная власть в лице парламента и исполнительной власти в лице Президента и правительства. Парламент состоит из двух палат-верхней палаты-Сената и нижней палаты - Мажилиса. Сенат формируется из 47 депутатов .Мажилис состоит из 107 депутатов, избираемых по спискам партий и члены Ассамблеи народов Казахстана. Период между парламентскими выборами четыре года. Правительство осуществляет исполнительную власть в стране. Ее возглавляет премьер-министр, который назначается Президентом с одобрения парламента. Правительство несет ответственность за свою работу перед президентом и подотчетно парламенту. Верховный суд и местные суды государства выполнить судебной системы Республики. Верховный Суд является высшим судебным органом по гражданским и уголовным делам. Управление конституционных законов осуществляет Конституционный совет, который состоит из 7 членов и избирается сроком на 6 лет
