My friend Ann had a terrible toothache, so she made an appointment to see the dentist. He had a look at the tooth and decided that she needed a filling. The cavity was a big one, so he had an injection first. Afterwards it felt so much better

Эта конструкция используется тогда, когда человек просто что-то планирует ( не факт что точно это будет, что ты запланировал ) и ещё один момент что когда используем " going to " время не меняется т.е. V 0 ( что означает что глаголы будут в 0 форме - play, go, sleep и т.д. Думаю, суть ясна )
