Vladislav Tretiak grew up a sports kid. The example of his elder brother tried to go swimming (in the pool "Dynamo"), then became interested in diving (jumping with a five-meter tower). Along with his parents went every Sunday to the skating rink in Gorky Park.

Together with his team, Tretiak became the champion of Moscow, received the prize of the best goalkeeper. Even before that at the European Championships youth national team of the USSR, where Vladislav was the second goalkeeper, took second place. The performance was considered unsuccessful. Within a year the USSR national team in Garmisch-Partenkirchen achieved success.
