Task 2: Listen to the extracts of the texts and define what disaster is described. Extract 1. Cracks or weaknesses allow magma to rise up. Pressure builds up which, then, releases

suddenly causing the magma to explode. Magma that reaches the earth surface is called lava. This

molten lava eventually cools to form new rock.

Extract 2. This natural event causes dry land suddenly gets submerged under water. Some of them

occur suddenly, others take days or even months to build. The disaster may be caused by heavy

rainfalls when rivers flow over their banks.
Extract 3. It is caused by the shaking of the earth’s surface. It happens when two blocks of the earth

suddenly slip past one another, or break apart from each other as a result of tension caused by

prolonged energy build up.

Extract 4. It has uncontrolled spreading. It is usually started out of a lightning strike, or people

careless camping. They sometimes burn for days and weeks. They can destroy almost every organic

matter in the area.

Extract 5. It appears in cumulonimbus clouds. It looks like a rapidly violent rotating column of air.

It forms because of the collision between warm and cool air masses. It can cause lots of destruction.

It can uproot trees and raise houses, twirl and drag them into its “eye”.

1)I always hang around with my choir group because its fun to be with them and we have a lot of things in common.

2)In every practice with our choir members,someone has to mess it up and i try to put up with it always.

3)I feel like being myself around my choir members so i dont hesitate fooling around with them.

4)Its easy to get mad at every mistake you do but we should know that mistakes happen for a reason so we should calm down before we move on.

5)I was walking around in the festival and later i accidentally bumped into a celebrity!

6)I get on with my crew members really easily and quick.

The house of my dream must be a comfortable well-planned two-storeyed cottage. Not so large of course. It should be situated in a quite ecologically clean place or street. In front of the house I want a green lawn and flowers to be. And also a big shaggy dog should live in his booth in our yard. There must be a large kitchen, a pantry, a dining-room, a cosy sitting-room with a fireplace and big windows on the ground floor.

There should be bedrooms with the own separated bathrooms on the first floor, and somebody`s study upstairs. And my room should be in the garret. And a balcony also should be.

Also I want to have a modern and quite new furniture. But the main thing that I do not want to do is to pay a lot of money for the house and the furniture for many years before I can call this house my own.

There should be a lot of trees, a pond or a fountain. It is necessary if my house be strong and well-defended with a beautiful fence.
