I am writing to say thank you for your letter that I've just got. I hope all is well with you and your family.
 In your letter you told me about celebration of Thanksgiving in your country. You know, we don't celebrate such holiday in our country. But we have some other holidays that are celebrated in winter. The greatest one is New Year. And this holiday is best loved not only in my family but all over the country. This day we prepare holiday table, cook a lot of tasty things. Nothing special, but different salads and what not. We decorate the new year tree and wait for the midnight. When the clock strikes twelve, we drink for the new year and congratulate each other. Do you celebrate this holiday? If you do, tell me about the tradition of celebrating it in your country.

This is the second Olympics for Russia , first - Olympics -80 - remember , even those who at the time of its holding in Moscow was a child. But it was summer , and this winter - all very different , and again agitated the country for the first time . What venue for competitions in winter sports was chosen Sochi - resort city and " summer capital " of Russia , at first disconcerting . However, almost immediately becomes clear that this is just another challenge, an additional reason to be proud : Sochi will become the first city with a subtropical climate , where will the Winter Olympics.

Application Sochi to host the Games in 2014 was declared the winner by the results of the 119th session of the International Olympic Committee, July 4, 2007 . By tradition, the closing ceremony of the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver , a solemn transfer of the Olympic flag to the mayor of Sochi Anatoly Pakhomov , then shot up over the stadium flag of Russia and spectators in the stands and on television witnessed the presentation of Sochi as a hostess next Winter Olympics .
