Summer Holidays

I always enjoy summer. Do you? In summer, I like to relax and forget about school. I don't have to get up early and I can see my friends any time I want.

I like to spend my holidays with my parents. We usually go somewhere with our parents. We love to swim, lie in the sun, but most of all I prefer going camping. We go to different places in Britain and sometimes abroad. In Britain, I like going to Devon, Somerset and Scotland – but my favourite place of all is Yorkshire. It has a lovely countryside and fantastic old buildings. The only problem is the weather!

Last summer, I had two holidays. One was in Somerset, in a little village by the sea, and another was in Naples, in Italy. I went with my mother to Italy – by train! It was unforgettable!

Lucy has a cold. Her nose is blocked, she coughs a lot , and she has a sore throat. She felt fine last night, but now she is very 1). Lucy wants to go 2) and rest, but she thinks she can’t. She is a student and her essay is due today. She needs to proof read it and print it so the teacher gets it on time. Lucy’s 3) is very strict. He told Lucy that the 4) must be handed in on time. Когда моих друзей спрашивают: «Какое самое незабываемое путешествие ты испытал в своей жизни?», то они чаще всего рассказывают о проведенных совместно с родителями отпусках где-нибудь на море в жарких местах, и чаще всего за границей. Но для меня самым увлекательным путешествием является летний приезд к моей любимой бабушке и деду в деревню. Как же приятно отлучится от непрекращающегося автомобильного шума городских улиц, и окунуться в легкую и чистую атмосферу села, непотрепанного суетностью мегаполисов.

У бабушки большое домашнее хозяйство: два поросенка, корова, теленочек, десяток кур, а еще есть кошка с котом и собака-сторож. В середине лета настает время знойной поры сенокоса, где и началось мое увлекательное путешествие. Рано утром все отправились на целый день за несколько километров от дома, чтобы начать косьбу травы.

Дедушка наточил косы и приготовил грабли. Когда мы приехали на нужное место, то слегка отдохнув, все приступили к работе. Меня тоже не оставили без дела, я караулил костер, чтобы вскипятить горячего чаю. Как нестранно такой напиток и, правда, утолял жажду после изнуряющего труда в самый жаркий день, особенно приготовленный на природе.

У нас на сенокосе есть небольшое место, похожее на беседку, только крышей служит крона двух елей, расположенных рядом, а столом – доски, заключенные между ними. Рядом сколочены две скамейки с двух сторон. И вот сижу я, подкидываю хворост в мало – помалу угасающий костер и вижу, как по коре ели вдруг промелькнула ящерица, а потом и еще одна. Мне стало интересно, и я оставил на столе небольшой кусочек хлеба. И спустя какое-то время самая большая ящерка спустилась и стала жадно уплетать крошку. Я стал звать всех остальных, но, видимо зверье испугалось моих радостных возгласов и скрылось в многочисленных щелях деревьев.

Когда все пообедали, то уставшие от изнурительного и тяжелого ручного кошения, легли рядышком в тени отдохнуть часик. А я все поджидал новых друзей. И они вновь появились, без всяких уговоров съедали все мои преподношения. За несколько таких сенокосных дней у них вошло в привычку кушать вместе с нами, ящерки стали настолько ручными, что можно было с легкостью посадить их на плечо, как обычное домашнее животное, и слегка почесывать около шейки. Но большие копты сена вскоре были загружены в громадные возы, и рабочая пора подошла к концу.

Мне жалко было расставаться с новыми хвостатыми друзьями. Очень надеюсь, что на следующий год они меня будут помнить, и мое путешествие по лесным местам продолжится.

When my friends are asked: “What is the most unforgettable trip you have experienced in your life?”, Then they most often talk about holidays together with their parents somewhere in the sea in hot places, and more often abroad. But for me the most exciting trip is the summer visit to my beloved grandmother and grandfather in the village. How nice it will be to leave the incessant car noise of city streets, and plunge into the light and clean atmosphere of the village, untidy with the hustle and bustle of megalopolises.

The grandmother has a large household: two pigs, a cow, a calf, a dozen chickens, and there is also a cat with a cat and a guard dog. In the middle of summer, the time of the hot hay season begins, where my fascinating journey began. Early in the morning, everyone set off for a whole day a few kilometers from home to begin mowing grass.

Grandpa sharpened his spit and cooked a rake. When we arrived at the right place, then having a little rest, we all started to work. I, too, was left idle, I was guarding the fire to boil hot tea. As such a drink is not strange, it is true that it quenched thirst after exhausting labor on the hottest day, especially when cooked in nature.

We have a small place on a hayfield, similar to a gazebo, only the crown of two spruce trees located nearby is the roof, and the table is the boards enclosed between them. Nearby are two benches on both sides. And here I sit, throwing firewood in little by little, the dying down fire, and I see how a lizard flashed across the bark, and then another. It became interesting to me, and I left a small piece of bread on the table. And after some time, the largest lizard descended and eagerly devoured the baby. I began to call everyone else, but apparently the beast was frightened by my joyful exclamations and disappeared into the numerous crevices of the trees.

When everyone had lunch, then tired of the grueling and heavy manual mowing, lay down for an hour in the shade to rest. And I was waiting for new friends. And they reappeared, without any persuasion, they ate up all my presentations. For a few days of such hay they became a habit to eat with us, the lizards became so tame that it was easy to put them on your shoulder, like a normal pet, and lightly scratch around the neck. But large Copts of hay were soon loaded into huge carts, and the working time came to an end
