Парниковый эффект -- термин,обозначающий роль атмосферы в нагревании поверхности Земли. Атмосфера в основном проницаема для входящей коротковолновой солнечной радиации,поглощаемой поверхностью Земли. БОльшая часть этой радиации затем рассеивается,но находит сво отражение в таких газах,как углекислый,метан,оксид азота,фреон и атмосферный озон. Этот тепловой эффект является основой теорий глобального потепления. В результате использования природного топлива,такого,как нефть,газ и уголь,объём углекислого газа в атмосфере возрастает на 0.4% ежегодно. Также фактором круговорота углерода является вырубка тропических лесов. Всё быстрее увеличивается количество других газов,влияющих на парниковый эффект,к примеру метана и фреонов. Суммарный эффект этого увеличения может выразится в глобальном повышении температуры,приблизительно на 2-6 градусов. В течение следующей сотни лет потепление такого масштаба может повлиять на климат во всём мире и урожайность,а также существенно повысить уровень моря. Если это произойдёт,миллионы людей пострадают от масштабного наводнения.
