It all began after work one day when some friends and I were talking about theme parks. A girl called Rosie said she loved big, scary rides, and for some reason, I said that I loved them too. What I should have said is that I'm terrified of them. Two days later, Rosie told me that she had booked tickets for a group of us to go to a nearby theme park the following weekend. She insisted that I go and promised that I would love the roller-coaster because it was the highest and fastest in Europe!When we arrived at the theme park, Rosie and her friends went straight to the roller coaster. As we waited in line, I got more and more nervous. By the time we got to the front of the line, I was panicking. I refused to ride. I was so embarrassed that I went home alone. The next day, I spoke to Rosie and apologized for ruining the trip. She was very sympathetic and didn't blame herself at all for being afraid. What she couldn't understand was why I'd lied in the first place - and she couldn't

 В   современном обществе  человек стал забывать о том, что планета Земля – это наш общий дом. Люди порой  не замечают, какой вред они наносят природе своими действиями и поступками. Проблем, связанных с экологией нашей планеты,  много. Но мне хотелось бы обозначить те, которые, на мой взгляд, являются более острыми.

Первая проблема – загрязнение окружающей среды промышленными отходами. По всему  миру появляется очень много промышленных предприятий. Но, к сожалению,  на многих из них не установлены очистительные приборы. Это приводит к тому, что в атмосферу попадают вредные вещества, а в реки выбрасываются отходы.  По этой причине погибают растения, звери, птицы, рыба.

Вторая проблема – вырубка леса. В наше время увеличилась потребность человека в древесине. Общество нуждается в изделиях из дерева: в бумаге, мебели, строительных материалах. Люди не задумываются и вырубают дерево за деревом. Обширные территории, занятые лесом, начали сокращаться, и это приводит  к изменению климата, измельчанию рек, исчезновению многих видов растений и животных.

Третья проблема -  исчезновение редких видов животных.   Многие виды редких   животных исчезают по прихоти человека: за ценный мех и кожу платят хорошие деньги. Люди занимаются браконьерством и без сожаления истребляют тех животных, которых и так осталось очень мало. Неужели человек забыл о том, что мы должны  заботиться о братьях наших меньших?

Все мы, независимо от возраста, можем нашей планете. Ведь это не так сложно: выбросить фантик в урну для мусора или посадить рядом с домом деревце.  Каждый из нас несёт ответственность за огромную планету под названием Земля.

The Congress is a meeting of representatives from all states. The people elect those representatives. The US President is Commander in Chief of the country's armed forces. A person who wants to become President must be born in the United States, must be at least 35 years old and must live in the United States for at least 14 years before becoming President.  In 1920, the 19th amendment gave women the right to vote. In 1971, the 26th amendment gave people 18 years old and older the right to vote.
