'I don't know the meaning of half those long words, and, what's more, I don't believe you do either!'- Я и половины этой абракадабры не понимаю, да и ты сам, по-моему, тоже!

And the Eaglet bent down its head to hide a smile: some of the other birds tittered audibly.Кое-кто из птиц захихикал, а Орленок деликатно отвернулся, чтобы скрыть улыбку.

First it marked out a race-course, in a sort of circle, ('the exact shape doesn't matter,' it said,) and then all the party were placed along the course, here and there.Прежде всего он, как он выразился, "разметил инстанцию",- то есть нарисовал на земле круг (не очень ровный, но "точность тут не обязательна", сказал Дронт). Далее он расставил всех присутствующих но этому кругу (строго как попало).
