Sir Walter Raleigh (was) an English traveller who (lived) in England in the days of Queen Elizabeth. He (sailed) across the seas to America in search of new lands. He (brought) to England two very important plants: the tobacco plant and the potato. When he (was) in America, he (learnt) to smoke from the Indians. When he (was) back in England, he (was sitting) one day in his room by the fire smoking a pipe. His old servant who (knew) nothing about tobacco or smoking, suddenly (came) into the room and (saw) the smoke coming out of his master's mouth. He (was) frightened: he (thought) Sir Raleigh (was) on fire. He (rushed) out of the room, (got) some water and (threw) it all over his master before Sir Walter (could) explain that he was simply (smoking). Sir Raleigh (brought) the potato to his country because he (wanted) the people (to learn) how (to grow) potatoes. He (said): "When the harvest (is) poor, there (will be) no breed and we (shall all be) hungry. You (will) never be hungry if you (grow) potatoes. But people (did not like) potatoes. Nobody (wanted) (to eat) them because nobody (knew) how (to cook) them."After many years a Frenchman (found) the best way of growing and cooking the potato. People (began) (eating) potatoes and (found) them good. Since that time more and more potatoes (have been grown) and (eaten) in Europe. The potatoes (have become) one of the most important and useful vegetable.

What are the pros / cons of keeping wild animals as domestic animals?

I think keeping wild animals as pets has many pros. I think that wild animals can become domesticated. Cats and dogs were also wild animals before, but became pets. I like to take home wild animals that are not very big. I can keep a lizard at home because it's small. I can keep a small spider in the terarium at home.

I think keeping wild animals as pets has many cons. The main disadvantage is that the animal can attack. The case was when the tiger grew up and consumed the owners. A poisonous spider or snake can bite. A wild animal can not always live at home.
