On the walls of an underground station in Seoul, South Korea, there are a lot of pictures of food and drinks: bananas, meat, rice, coffe, even pet food. But these are not advertisements. This is the world’s first “virtual” supermarket, called “Homeplus”.

The supermarket is unusual because you use the special Homeplus app on your smartphone to go shopping. When you want to buy something, you use this app to scan the barcodes of the products you want. You put them in your online shopping trolley and then you pay by phone. You haven’t got any heavy bags to carry because the supermarket delivers everything to your house for you.

South Koreans like shopping online and millions of them have smartphones, but are they ready for this type of shopping? “Young Koreans use their smartphones to do a lot of different tasks every day” says a Homeplus virtual store manager. “Our costumers work really hard and don’t have enough time to go to the supermarket. Each person has their own favorite holidays.  Probably everyone loves their birthday, someone likes the spring holiday on March 8, and someone considers February 23rd as their favorite celebration.  Yes, there are many different holidays in the world, each of which is interesting, attractive and praiseworthy in its own way.  But it seems to me that there is no such person on earth who would not like the winter holiday - New Year.  My favorite holiday is also New Year.

I always look forward to the coming of the New Year.  I know that the beginning of the new year will bring me many gifts, a lot of joy and a lot of fun.  Preparation for meeting the long-awaited winter holiday always begins one month in advance.  Or maybe someone else did it earlier.  My mother prepares the New Year's menu in advance, consulting with me, taking into account my wishes with my father.

For me, the most touching moment in preparation is the purchase of a “forest beauty”.  Dad and I try to choose the fluffiest and most beautiful Christmas tree.  We decorate the main symbol of the New Year with the whole family.  There are so many toys on our tree!  Some Christmas tree decorations can be used to trace the history of our country: here is the first spaceship, here are fairy-tale characters from cartoons.  From a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, the whole apartment is immediately transformed.  Christmas tree garlands playfully reflect on the walls of the room, cheering everyone up.
