1 I was sitting in a cafe when you called me yesterday afternoon -Два действия происходили в в одно и то же время. Действие, которое длилось в такого типа предложениях обычно употребляется в Past Cont (я сидел в кафе), а действие, которое его прервало- в Past Simple (ты мне позвонил)

2 At 7 pm yesterday we were listening to music -Past cont  так как присутствуют обстоятельства Past Cont yesterday и at 7 pm ( Для Past Cont нужен день + точное время)

3  They didn't go to the party last week- Past Simple- обстоятельство времени неделя

4 Did you see a dentist yesterday?- Past Simple обстоятельство времени Past Simple yesterday
