Alfie’S DIARY
Last week I went to a primary school reunion. It was the first time I’d seen my old classmates since I left. The others get together quite often. My family moved to another area when I was eleven, so I hadn’t seen them for a long time. But I chat to some of them on the internet now and again.
I didn’t recognize Jonny Scott at first. His hair had changed a lot. He used to have curly, blond hair and now it’s straight and much darker. His personality hadn’t changed. He always used to joke and was friendly with everyone. He used to be good friends with Becky, but later she got a boyfriend and she didn’t want to spend time with him any more. He’d got quite upset at first, but now he’s got a new best friend, called Suzanne.
I hadn’t expected to see Josie Manners. Her mother had got an important job in Rome and her family moved there. She’d made a lot of new friends in Rome because she started her new secondary school at the same time as the other children. She used to be shy at primary school, but we talked a lot last night.
I talked to Duane Colton, too. I couldn’t remember him, but when he talked about some of the things we’d done I suddenly realized he’d been my best friend for a year! We’re meeting later today.
