The large-scale deforestation which began in 2014 has tesulted in the disappearance of whole forests and parklands, causing enormous local environmental damage. Even though exporting wood from Ukraine has been made illegal, deforestation is still a very serious problem in the country, as illegal logging and export wood to countries in Western Europe continues.
