The cars (8) (were driving) slowly because the road was dangerous. It was slippery snow that (9) (was freezing) when it (10) (hit) the roads. Police cars (11) (checked/were checking) the traffic regularly.
I (12) (had been driving) for twenty minutes when the accident (13) (happened). My heater (14) (did not work / was not working), and the snow (15) (was freezing) on my window, so I couldn’t see well.
