In Scotland they prepare some special traditional dishes for New Year party. Breakfast is usually consists of oat cakes, pudding and a special kind of cheese Kebben, and they prepare a roast goose for lunch.
Oatcakes. Celtic peoples had a special shape of their Christmas oatcakes, they were round with a hole in the middle. They must not break or damage their Christmas oatcakes when they are been baking because of bad luck for the whole year!
Pudding. The British put their Christmas plumpuding on the Christmas table. It is made of some bacon, bread crumbs, flour, raisins, eggs, and various spices. Christmas plumpuding is poured with rum, ignited and then burning plumpuding is put on the table.
Roast goose. In Scotland, fried or smoked goose are usually prepared for the Christmas dinner. Nowadays it is the main Christmas meal in many other countries of the UK. But fried or stuffed turkey was taken the main place on the Christmas table in England from the XVIII century.
Cake. Nowadays a large round cake is made for New Year's table in Scotland. They decorate it with candied almonds, nuts, candies, sugar and marzipan figures. Every year a huge number of cakes sent to the Scotsmen who are in exile in all corners of the world.
