В первом случае не будет артикля -a потому что слово meals стоит во множественном числе и без артикля -the потому что это артикль употребляется чтобы обозначить именно какую определенную вещь. Если там ты поставишь the то смысл будет примерно "мы редко едим ЭТИ завтраки на кухне". В случае же с kitchen ставится этот артикль, потому что речь идет об определенной кухне. То есть именно на нашей кухне мы редко едим завтраки. Та же ситуация и со вторым предложением. То есть у нас своя определенная квартира где есть кухня и зал.
