I(stand) at the bus stop in the pouring rain, waiting for bus 9 and it was late. the buses on this route are usually on time because they go through a suburban area where there is very little traffic. i know this because i have been doing the same trip to work every day for ten years already. anyway, when the bus finally (arrive) you could see straightaway that the driver was very irritable because he (run) late. i (hardly get) on the bus when he started off again. the same thing happened when we (stop) again to set down a couple of passengers. he really (drive) quite dangerously. then it happened! he drove straight into a car there was such a terrible bang that i felt sure it was a serious accident. when i looked out, i could see that the car (wreck) but, fortunately, the driver and his passenger appeared to be unhurt.
