Микола Якович Голощапов — один з найавторитетніших і найшанованіших фахівців країни у царині викладання й виконання джазу. Заслужений працівник культури України, засновник і беззмінний керівник естрадно-джазового відділення Одеського училища мистецтв і культури ім. К.Данькевича. На базі відділення Микола Голощапов створив джаз-оркестр, який брав участь у джазових фестивалях Європи. Природно, диригує ним. Член президії джазової асоціації України. Співорганізатор і заступник голови журі Міжнародного фестивалю-конкурсу Master-Jam Fest. У його джаз-оркестрі грають і співають студенти й випускники училища мистецтв, а також мають за честь грати відомі музиканти. Причому, як кажуть, це єдиний музичний колектив Одеси, а то й — беремо ноту вище, вище, ще вище — України, де музиканти грають без жодних гонорарів, а заради задоволення. Свого й слухачів. Бо— "Freedom! Freedom!"
