It was a hot day. The sun was shining brightly in the blue sky. A wolf and a lamb met at a stream. The water in the stream was cool and clear. It looked at the wolf and said in a thin voice that he could not make the water dirty for the wolf from the place where he was standing, because the stream ran from the wolf to him. The wolf in an angry voice shouted at the lamb to stop talking adding that he had met the lamb six months before, and the lamb had been very rude to him. The lamb cried that the wolf could not have met him six months before because he was only four months old. But the wolf cut him short saing that if it had not been the lamb, it had been his brother. And with these words he seized the poor lamb and carried it into the wood.
